What Is an EKG Technician?

An electrocardiograph (EKG) technician administers a few important medical monitoring and testing tasks, primarily the EKG, which tests the electrical activity of the heart. It can be a life-saving procedure that prevents and leads to the treatment of heart disease in patients of all backgrounds. EKG Technician Test Preparation

EKG technicians are among those healthcare professionals who administer direct care, so the training to become a certified EKG technician includes not only practical skills regarding EKG technology, but also training in interpersonal interactions. You’ll be in contact with doctors and other healthcare professionals, as well as patients, on a daily basis. Pasco Medical Training’s four-week program helps you gain the experience and expertise you’ll need to effectively master your job as a CET!

EKG Technician Training Includes

  • Preparing patients
  • Proper EKG lead placement
  • Expert care regarding the health and safety of patients
  • Understanding of the medical and legal aspects
  • Knowledge of heart anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of the heart’s electrical conduction system
  • EKG strip analysis (P, Q, R, S, and T waveform interpretation)
  • Recognizing artifacts, troubleshooting, and tracing problems
  • Utilizing practice EKS strips
  • Performance of 12-lead placement, interpretation, and troubleshooting

As a certified EKG technician, or CET, you will be able to find a career in physician’s offices, hospitals, clinics, and other health care facilities.
