National Healthcareer Association Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam Preparation

The phlebotomy exam-preparation course consists of 12 classes taught over a 4 week period providing NHA theory and lab based practice needed to prepare  for the National Healthcareer Association Certification (CPT) exam. Our exam prep course does not include an externship or clinical component,  all live blood draws will be in class. Pasco Medical Training is an approved NHA Testing Center.

Prior to enrollment, please review the NHA candidate Handbook to determine eligibility (pages 6-8) at NHA Handbook . The exam application process includes an attestation that each candidate read and agree to before sitting for an examination.  All candidates are bound by the attestation.

We offer a Day or Evening phlebotomy exam-prep training course.

Classroom Training Includes:

  • Phlebotomy Practice and Quality Assessment Standards
  • Communication and Documentation
  • Phlebotomy Medical Terminology and Anatomy
  • Phlebotomy Equipment and Blood Draw Procedures
  • Correct Order of Blood Draw, Tubes, and Additives
  • Venipuncture Procedures
  • Point-of-Care Testing and Special Blood Draw Procedures
  • Common Lab Tests and Procedures

Phlebotomy Exam-Prep Training Includes:

  • Initial practice with artificial training arms to gain basic knowledge of and comfort in properly working with the blood draw equipment and the blood draw procedure.
  • Subsequent “live sticks” with instructor supervision.
  • Practice “live sticks” using the most common blood draw techniques with a syringe, butterfly (winged infusion set), and vacutainer needles to ensure adequate preparation.

This exam preparation course does not offer to confer a certificate or diploma, and does not provide job placement, or guarantee career advancement.
